I will be graduating Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) this Spring 2018 with a BFA in Comic art and minors in Creative Writing and Teaching Artist.

My education at MCAD has given me the necessary skills to teach art (especially comics and illustration) at any occasion and for any age group. I can do art classes, workshops for events or individual tutoring among other teaching-related tasks, and also happily consider offers for longer job positions.

Teaching Artist

As a teaching artist my classes are very experimental. Instead of following very strict guidelines, I encourage the students to make work that feels meaningful to them. If that requires breaking a few rules, then so be it. I want the process of creating art to be non-stressful, and something that the students are willing to spend time on, not because the teacher tells them to, but because they want to.

Teaching children and teenagers is the most rewarding for me, since they are still developing their personal life-philosophies, and I am able to make a difference by guiding them into a positive direction. Seeing them improve and grow as artists is the best reward I could hope for!

As both an artist and a teacher, I help students to bring out their inner creator by experimenting and exploring in a safe, non-judgmental but still critical environment. This is very important for their artistic growth and helps the students find their own unique styles. Small group settings are ideal, because it ensures that everyone gets the support and acknowledgement that they need. This way the students can interact with each other more easily as well, which provides them essential peer feedback and acceptance for their projects. Throughout my artistic career, I have had the privilege of experiencing all this myself. There have always been people around me who have encouraged me to follow my wildest dreams and get out of my comfort zone. I have made mistakes, fallen and gotten up again several times, but because of this philosophy that I have followed, I have grown to be the artist who I am today. As a teaching artist, I always strive to give a similar experience to my students.
